COSTOS

Consistent and Meaningful Cost Insight

By combining traditional estimating methods with BIM 3D, 2D and GIS, CostOS is a powerful cost estimating software which allows you to be more efficient, more accurate and win more profitable work. From feasibility or Cost Plan through to the final detailed bid on a single platform.

The Cost Estimating solution, CostOS is specifically designed for companies that want to increase their competitiveness by responding to modern estimating challenges:

  • More quickly, with less effort, more accuracy, less risk, and with an increased level of confidence.
  • By combining traditional estimating methods with BIM 3D, 2D and GIS, CostOS is a powerful cost estimating software which allows you to be more efficient, more accurate and win more profitable work.
  • From feasibility or Cost Plan through to the final detailed bid on a single platform.

We recognize that the cost estimating process is at the core of every project related company. CostOS is a mission critical system which allows you to value engineer and differentiate your solution whilst meeting your clients’ requirements, helping you win more work.

2D Takeoff Modules

CostOS 2D Extraction

CostOS 2D Extraction, is a Nomitech branded Quantity Takeoff Module that is integrated with CostOS Estimating. The key Features of CostOS 2D are:

  • Supports measurements on PDF, TIFF, JPEG, DWG, DGN and DXF drawings
  • It is multiuser and enables many Quantity Surveyors working on the same Projects
  • It produces an analytical document of the measurements, including the calculations performed (either split in Triangles or in Basic Shapes)
  • It Supports the definition of custom measurements, such as ducts area, slab rebar and any measurement that the QS can think of
  • The quantities are fully synchronized with the BOQ / Estimate
  • The quantities can be associated with CostOS Parametric Models / Smart Assemblies.

BIM & GIS Modules

Regarding BIM, CostOS is truly ‘BIM enabled’. BIM technology has been at the heart of CostOS from the very start and is hence, seamlessly integrated and standard functionality. No links, no imports etc – it’s part of the furniture.

This enables the measurement of quantities, directly from a BIM and in a very simple but visual way. Just navigate through the model, auto-select elements, associate them with database items (or create new ones), click go and produce a fully described, measured and priced Bill, directly from the model – from BIM to BILL to BID in a few easy steps. This is because CostOS already stores the relationship between model classes and cost database items and as since open industry standard IFC files are utilized, CostOS BIM technology can be used, regardless of the BIM designing tool used to create the model.

With CostOS BIM technology, it really is a case of ‘what you see is what you estimate’. As model elements are selected and measured, CostOS  ensures that no item is missed. Furthermore, CostOS’ powerful parametric engine, if combined with BIM, enables the quick and accurate pricing of ‘less than fully-detailed’ BIM models.  Moreover, it allows design optimisation and quick identification of most appropriate materials and construction methods. Intelligent, parameter-driven assemblies can be built and applied to BIM elements.

This is the very basic version of the system used mainly for detailed estimating. Still it can be a starting point for companies or individuals that want to stardise their estimating processes and data. It can be used for testing of the software from large organizations or for data collection before deploying the solution into larger scales.

CostOS Standalone was built for individuals, Quantity Surveyors, Estimators or Consultants that want to differentiate and provide distinguished services to their clients. In addition large organizations can acquire one or two CostOS Standalone licenses in case their estimators have to work in remote areas (e.g. Mining sites or Offshore Platforms) and push back their work or data they collected to the Enterprise Database when back at the office.

CostOS Standalone works on a single PC and over a JDBC based database.  Flexible pricing allows the user to select whether or not to enable the advanced features of the CostOS software. Hence the following versions are available for CostOS Standalone.

This module enables the quantity takeoffs on maps. It is a really powerful feature for early phase conceptual definition of projects as well as for infrastructure projects, pipelines, highways etc.

This version of CostOS includes all the above mentioned modules in the standalone version of CostOS.

Assemblies sit at the core of CostOS and can accelerate the production of estimates as well as used for value engineering options.

CostOS at its core was designed for large Enterprises that want consistency and centralisation of their estimates and estimating data. The developers of CostOS were pioneers in enterprise software development and were amongst the first ones globally to develop Solutions over the Jboss Application Server (Java for Enterprise Software). This fact gives CostOS a very strong footprint and sets its within the very few Estimating Products that can operate and deliver maximum results within a multi user environment.

CostOS Enterprise offers some unique capabilities and complies really well with large organization demands. With CostOS Enterprise:

  • Multiple Estimators can work on the same estimate real time and experience true collaboration.
  • Roles can be defined for the different Estimators, enabling or restricting them to perform specific tasks e.g. a junior estimator cannot price items exceeding $1M.
  • Flexible report writer enables the users to produce any kind of reports ot analytics their organization or management is looking for; the central database can be deployed over SQL Server.
  • Integrated processes can be provided linking the estimate with Project Controls, Accounting, Procurement etc. due to webservices technologies.
  • Organizations can add as many seats as they want and grow their knowledgebase quickly.

A global knowledgebase can be built allowing comparisons between different countries / cities as well as cost optimization in regards to procurement and fabrication locations. Consistency in the estimates can be achieved, even from company offices in different countries.

CosMo - productNomitech Cost Modelling and Benchmarking Software, COSMO – is an addition to the highly successful CostOS Estimating system. COSMO helps you to quickly consolidate your cost estimates from multiple historical projects and normalize the various formats, using industry standards, to provide consistent, meaningful insight. The outcome is a better-quality output that can become the key to confident decision making, issue resolution and powerful insights.
