Push for digital tech to power building sector - The aim is to have, by 2020, 40 to 60 construction sites implementing Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) technologies that cut out laborious paper-based processes and allow designers, builders and facility managers to communicate with one another digitally, said the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) in a press statement. A key benefit is that buildings could be constructed faster, at a lower cost and of higher quality arising from improved defect detection and inspections. Architecture & Building Services 2018
In line with the Singapore government’s plan to put in place innovative infrastructure to ride the waves of the digital revolution, the Architecture & Building Services (ABS) consisting of 6 shows will now streamline its focus to “Providing Solutions for Smart Nation Building” to suit the growing needs of Singapore.
During the event, we featured the latest solutions in 3D Scanning, Cost Estimating, Project Controls, Collaboration Platforms, Mobile Site Management, Machine Automation, Virtual Reality & more to help you become IDD ready!
Machine Automation Night
In August, we partnered with Trimble Inc. to organize an event at Harry's Boat Quay, featuring the latest Machine Control technology! Many contractors got a chance to experience the technology themselves with the simulator during the event.
How it works:
1. The excavator is placed in Autos mode
2. The operator controls the stick
3. Trimble Earthworks controls the boom and bucket
4. Stay on grade, reduce overcut and increase production
3D Scanning Workshops
This year, we organised numerous 3D Scanning workshops for different industry groups - Developers, Contractors, Interior Designers and Property Agents. 3D Scanning technology can be used for various purposes across industries.
Incomplete or inaccurate as-built drawings for existing buildings is a common problem today. 3D scanning is the newest method for BIM that captures the as-built conditions of existing buildings in the form of point clouds, which can be used to create a Building Information Model. This can aid in the planning and designing of future additions and renovations or to validate actual site conditions with the Virtual Construction Model.
